The Offshore 48 Sedan is built by Offshore Yachts. Offshore Yachts are designed and built with remarkable attention to detail, like recessed hull portlights, molded side deck overheads and deck hatches that are fully finished on the underside. Offshore Yachts is the latest chapter in a boat-building story that goes back to 1948, the year founder Richard O. Hunt built his first laminated fiberglass pleasure boat. Mr. Hunt pioneered fiberglass boat manufacturing while working with the U.S. Navy, and later developed his own line of fiberglass cruisers. In 1958 the company began it's association with Naval Architect William B. Crealock. In 1984 Crealock provided hull designs for a new line of handsome high-quality cruising boats, and the latest line of Offshore Yachts was launched. Offshore Yacht's hull design features a generous beam and finely veed and deep forefoot that gradually tapers to a 12-degree deadrise at the transom. This design produces a hull that is quick to get on plane and knifes cleanly through waves and chop throughout the speed range. The long shallow keel, low profile, low center of gravity and substantial displacement result in a gentle easy motion, directional stability and excellent all-around boat handling characteristics in virtually any sea condition. Offshore Yachts are built with solid hand-laid structural fiberglass below the waterline, and laminated with end grain Baltek balsa coring above the waterline. Four full length stringers and multiple athwartships frames are laminated and bonded for incredible strength and stiffness. Massive welded stainless engine beds provide maximum strength with the least vibration. An amazingly strong hull-to-deck joint combines with a structural upper rub rail to give the Offshore unparalleled strength where it is needed. All Offshore Yachts feature well thought-out details such as: covered walkaround decks for maximum safety and comfort, and window frames, doors and hatches made of gel coated fiberglass so they can't corrode like aluminum or rot like wood. Other less apparent.details include: the boatdeck is internally drained to the waterline, keeping the lower decks free of run off, and two exits from each area of the boat for added safety. Detail after detail shows the meticulous care taken in Offshore Yachts design and construction.
